Terracotta Red And White Encaustic Enamel Bands Of Anthemion, Or Palms, Decorate The Entire Piece, From Lip To Handle, Vessel To Base. Classical Scenes Depicting Hellenistic Myth Are Featured In Exquisite Detail On The Vessel In A Clear Homage To Classical Motifs Of Ancient Greek Pottery. Black Basalt Was Developed In 1767 By Founder Josiah Wedgwood I With The Firm’S Foundational Motto, “Black Is Sterling And Will Last Forever.”
